Portraits are a great experience for both the photographer and the model or client. When working on personal projects I am able to have complete creative control. When working for a client it is a completely different story.

Clients have a strong idea of what they want and delivering their idea is sometimes extremely tricky. What ever the scenario portraits are great fun.

The best tip I can give budding photographers is to do more portraits. Portraits enable a photographer to let their guard down and simply practice their art form. You get to meet new people and travel to some great places.

Light is a very influential ingredient into creating great portraits. It is the most important element to photography as it can give ambiance and character toward the subject. Establishing which camera to use is of course important, each camera has its own characteristics. Deciding whether to use a digital or analogue format is of course very important.
